As I can, I will be posting various topics of interest, but this site should not be considered a “One-Stop Shop” for the time being. Hopefully there will continue to be guest submissions posted, which ought to be pretty groovy.

I would  like to proffer my sincerest thanks for what the AVA has brought to the proverbial table in the vampire community. Keep up the good work.

“This recipe is to help calm the cravings that I get when I am needing a good sanguine feed. No more. No less. It is NOT a substitute for the living energy contained within the blood.”

The recipe is as follows:

INGREDIENTS

1 large can of tomato juice [something close to 64oz size? ~Sphynx]

1 half gallon of OJ with LOTS of pulp (I will explain this later)

2 larger bottles of red food color

1 small bottle of blue food color

12 crushed iron tablets *yes, it is a lot of iron, however with the mix you only drink a bit each day*
[25mg pills, so 12 x 25 = 300mg for the batch.]

18 crushed base amino tablets (such as L-lysine or the like)

Salt to taste… Remember!! Do not over salt, real blood has a minor salt content…

INSTRUCTIONS

This is best mixed in a gallon container (not a milk jug… more like one of those plastic tea pitchers)

1st Drain half of the liquid from the OJ leaving half of the liquid with ALL (or as much of) the pulp. The reason for using the pulp is to help simulate the thickness of blood, also acts kind of like a clotting agent, which adds to the illusion.

Mix in all the other ingredients, EXCEPT for the blue food color. This will be added last. Allow the ingredients to sit for at least an hour in the refrigerator. Remove the pseudo blood and begin to add drops of the blue food color to darken the bright red to a more blood-like crimson (or to a color YOU perceive is blood-like)… This too adds to the illusion and aids the sanguinary vampire in curbing his craving.

Return to the refrigerator for another hour. This allows the iron tablets and the base amino to more readily move through your concoction giving the pseudo blood that ‘coppery tang’ that real blood has.

SERVING

I tend to place mine in a coffee cup and stick it in the microwave to warm it to blood temperature (98 degrees). This is usually about 10-15 seconds depending on the microwave you are using.

**NOTE: No more than 6-8 ounces of this should be drunk in a day, there is a high iron content and this will alleviate any over indulgences of iron in your system**

I then pour mine into a goblet and drink, allowing the imagery to aid in curbing even my most damnable cravings.

SPHYNXCATVP’S NOTE

Assuming a large can of tomato juice is 64 ounces, that plus half of the half gallon of OJ (roughly 32oz by the time you pour about half out) makes about 96 oz.

A 6 ounce serviing of a roughly 96 ounce batch, as described above, will contain about 18-19 mg of iron. The tolerable upper limit of daily iron according to the NIH’s Office of Dietary Supplements is 45mg. One glass of this is certainly well within the normal limits.

Well, one successfully proved his humanity just last week. Andrew Philemonof Jr. was found not guilty of assault and vampirism by an Unalaska jury on Thursday.

Throughout the decades the vampire community has been comprised of members from all paths, faiths, and walks of life. As a community and as individuals we have all felt, at one time or another, the burden of our own personal tribulations, being what we are and existing within a social structure that is growing but still infantile in its understandings has made for a difficult way of life for many within our society. I feel that there is a part within our community that still can be considered far more unacknowledged in their way of life and whom I feel deserves necessary validation and recognition for what they do in support for our community, our donors.

Within the general society donors are often looked at as simply food, portrayed often as something to be fed upon and nothing more, given an almost consistent stigma of helpless prey to the mighty hunter and to this I raise my objection. I believe most would agree that though we the vampires may be negatively perceived by many, there are still others who would equally find positive traits, things to admire and find fantasia or mystique in therefore the icon of the vampire still has a formidable substantiation to it . The donor’s life however I consider the perception to not only be misconstrued in society but also not as empathized within the community due to the fact that almost all that would feed from a donor had never been in the donors place and truly experience what they sacrifice for our preservation and all so willingly as well.

By this I would wish to declare that on October the 1st, I will be holding personally as a secular holiday, as a day of thanks to the donors that have given so much for our preservation. I feel that they are just as much of a part of our community as any other and hold an irreplaceable role as the ones who make it possible for us to exist and maintain our sense well being and that is something to give deepest honor to. I hope you will all join me by giving thanks to your donors however you see fit and celebrating their sacrifices to us. This secular holiday I offer for our community I hope will fortify the bond further of our society and whatever role we all have within it.

I welcome your thoughts and insights to this desire of mine and anticipate you will support me in this endeavor.

A Colorado woman says a vampire’s sudden appearance caused her to wreck her sport utility vehicle late Sunday night.

The victim was driving down a dead-end dirt road in Mesa County about 11 p.m. when she said she saw a vampire in her headlights, according to Grand Junction’s nbc11news.com.

She quickly threw the SUV in reverse but backed into a canal in her haste. The SUV ended up on its side, stuck in the narrow ditch.

Troopers who arrived on the scene say they found no evidence of a blood-sucking undead traffic hazard. They also say there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the wreck.

The woman was treated briefly by paramedics, then taken home by her husband.
